About Us
Lakeview Church is not the building or the Free Methodist denomination, it is a collective of people who desire to move toward an intimate and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. Our church has been in existence since the early 1900’s, beginning with an amazing woman named Sarah Radke and growing to our current diverse community of over 1,000 people.We are people at different landmarks on our journey with God - some are still exploring who God is while others are longing for more and more. We value both places, plus all the others in between! We are people who move through life one day at a time knowing that God is already at work whether we are playing hockey or golfing, sharing mutual interests or studying, figuring out what parenting looks like or just hanging out with friends. Lakeview is about embracing who God has made us to be and going wherever God calls us to go as we become committed (without excuse!), passionate followers of Jesus Christ.
This will not happen in some program - there is no cookie cutter pattern where one size fits all. There is no set pattern or formula for what Lakeview is, and we are as diverse as the people who gather here. We do this through our ethos:
Finding
- we strive to create environments where all people are accepted in whatever spiritual or life condition we may be in- passion and creativity are engaged as we present the Gospel in relevant ways.
- we desire to gain increased awareness of God's presence in all areas of our everyday life, and to respond to His promptings
Maturing
- we strive to create environments where it is safe to explore our curiosity, and to ask difficult questions about God and religion- we desire to grow spiritually and in wisdom through the practice of spiritual disciplines
- we are a church family that desires to enthusiastically engage in community life
Caring
- we are a community of Christ Followers who actively pursue opportunities to meet the many needs of people in both our local and global community - to make a tangible difference in the world around us- we strive to be a community of people who walk alongside each other as we bear one another's burdens, and where grace is extended readily
Releasing
- we want to do more than come to church, we want to BE the church as we live out our faith in the world around us- we desire to support and encourage one another as we become the hands and feet of Jesus in our local and global community
Lakeview Church is, essentially, a family created by God, and we are striving to know him more.
